I think a straight-forward explanation of my views regarding our government is in order, so here goes.
People think they know each other until money is involved. Then they are often disappointed in their relative or friend. We all know that to be the case even if we haven't personally experienced it. Money is a test of what is in a person. But there are other tests.
Among our friends we look for "civility", the demeanor that tries to avoid hostility if at all possible. However, civility if carried too far can become a weakness. In witnessing a friend's alcoholism, being overly civil we can avoid confrontation by ignoring the issue. We thus become an "enabler." Enabling is destructive to your friend as well as harming others. But we can tell ourselves that we are merely being “civil” -- yet knowing in our heart that we are being destructive, (cowardly?). I was lucky enough to be involved in more than one such case, and was even luckier to find that direct, planned confrontation, led not only to a cure, but also to a stronger and lasting friendship.
Today, our country is at its greatest risk since its birth or the war of 1812. As with other democracies that have failed, our greatest risk is from within. And I'm not referring to the debate between Elephants and Donkeys, because that is not the real argument. Once we save the country we can go back to Party differences.
Our risk as a country is that we lack enough Patriots, and yet over 90% of the people you might ask would identify themselves as Patriots, so how can that be true? It's because we have forgotten what a Patriot is, and forgotten to teach it in our schools -- as though Patriotism was a disease of the extremist. As an adult, you'll recognize these quotations:
“Eternal Vigilance is the Price of Liberty.”
“Liberty cannot be preserved without a general knowledge among the people.”
John Adams
“The ignorance of one voter in a democracy impairs the security of all.”
John F. Kennedy 1963
“Those who expect to reap the blessings of freedom, must, like men, undergo the fatigue of supporting it. " Thomas Paine 1777
Eternal Vigilance? How can we be vigilant if we don't even understand the effects and failures of Socialism? Or the despotism of Communism? Looking them up we can recognize what is going on all around us.
Knowledgeable? With over 50% of our high school seniors not knowing about George Washington? Could they possibly know of Kennedy or Adams?
Ignorance? Ignoring the success of our country? And glorifying Hollywood-style the likes of Hugo Chavez?
Support? Not even consistent moral support, but instead undermining our leaders in time of war? (Not just “disagreeing”, but “undermining”.
In a private debate two year ago, I was asked by a relative if I questioned their patriotism. Instead of a direct answer I asked them if they felt they qualified as a patriot according to the partial definitions given by JFK and John Adams above. (They had already pleaded ignorance of many key issues, or tried to wash the issues away with current cliches. They had even shown support for the ACLU which is committed to making America a Communist state. If you wonder about that yourself, see the references at the end of this letter.) My question ended the conversation with merely promises by my relative to respond in writing to the issues I had asked about. Unfortunately, more promises and continued avoidance of the issues became their habitual response. Examining the obvious answers to the questions asked of them was too much for them to handle. Thomas Paine would have said too much “fatigue” was required.
It will take more than a generation, if we're fortunate enough to be allowed that much time, to educate our offspring. In the meantime, to salvage our republic we must count on those adults who are capable of rational thinking, and who are not wooed by the temptation to respond with cliches, or flip answers, or smug knowing smiles, or the aloofness of the elite, or the practiced pretense of great knowledge. It will take adults who can recognize that there is an important difference between winning a political issue and winning the war against our enemies – enemies within and enemies without.
Bravo to those who can recognize that we are now faced with saving our country and can divorce themselves from partisan politics. There is too much to scorn in any of our political parties to waste time in debate over which is most corrupt. Neither is willing to stand on principle. However, today, one party stands head and shoulders deep in Marxism. To not acknowledge that is dangerous.
Friends can debate the comparative ethics and policies of their parties but if we become a Marxist nation we will no longer have the freedom to debate. Our speech will be controlled. If our friends support Marxism, and we fail to tell them our own opinion, then we are "enabling" them -- "enabling" them to support the destruction of our country and all the freedoms it has given us all our lives. We can still be polite and civil in our explanation of the Marxist danger, but under the circumstances we face today, we would be fools not to engage in a "Dutch Uncle" talk. Call Communist leadership what it is: communist. It's not just "left", or "liberal", it's Marxist. Like Marxists, it lies about its goals, lies about its progress, and lies about missed goals. That is the Marxist way: tell the big lie, so big that those who aren't watching closely cannot believe anyone would tell such a gigantic lie unless it were true.
Every patriot who might have temporarily fallen asleep, must look at what JFK and Adams said and then try to catch up with the facts and confront the monster we now face by trying to re-awake their friends to the enormity of the danger. Our country is being taken away by someone who says he is too busy to want to take over a car company but then takes over two of them and distributes their assets to unions and others. He claims to avoid Socialism but appoints, without any congressional approvals, dozens of czars to circumvent his congressionally approved Cabinet.
We cannot blame Obama for this. Since childhood he has been trained by communists and anti-Americans. We can only blame ourselves and make sure that he loses his Democratic Party majority in Congress. Even then we will be in danger until his communist methods no longer occupy the White House. We can each play a role by converting friends and not "enabling" them.
You might ask if I’m not trying to take on the world. I’m only trying to convert a few of those who are presently “enabled.” And then hope they will convert others. This does risk some friendships, some very old and cherished. However, the alternative is to see everything lost. You may consider me a fanatic. However, more and more people are seeing that the fears raised regarding our President are not merely well-founded but proven.
I hope you will choose to join in this educational effort and also that you will avoid being an enabler. If we don’t speak up now we will likely not get a second chance. Every Democrat in Congress who is not willing to speak out publically against the Obama administration, must be voted out of office in 2010. Every one.
The promised ACLU facts are shown below. The ACLU is like a polite, well educated ACORN, both of which hide behind deceptive names. Learning about the ACLU can be considered a fraction of what Thomas Paine required of us. You already know why the ACLU is important – they support the Democratic Party and Communism.
Best regards,
The ACLU
Some Democrats are still living in the political past, accepting the Democratic Party for the principles it once stood for, and not for what it has become – a party led by Socialists, Communists, and Ultra Liberals (most of whom are anti-American. I call the group SCULs.)
I do not care for any of our political parties because I believe they are all corrupt and leading us down the historical path of previous democracies – toward dictatorship. You are undoubtedly familiar with noted historians’ descriptions of the phases of a democracy from birth and energy, to realization that people can vote themselves benefits (Look at us now!!!), to complacency, then apathy (Look at us now!!!), then downfall. Historians now debate if America is on, or merely near, the last leg of this cycle. It’s possible that the momentum cannot be stopped. My goal is merely to help slow it up, rather than to accelerate the end. For that reason, I am a Republican – for voting purposes, not for love. I am not in a hurry to see my children live under Socialism or Communism or a dictatorship. I am not willing to join the SCULs. America is not perfect, but only revolutionaries tear things down without knowing of anything better. Communism is not better.
Now to facts about the ACLU, all of which you can verify with minimum research.
Facts:
1) The ACLU was founded in 1920 by Roger Baldwin.
2) The ACLU started as an openly radical group but Baldwin saw that was a mistake. He decided to dress the organization up “in patriotism.” Baldwin’s biographer, Peggy Lamson, says he explained himself this way,
“I am for socialism, disarmament, and ultimately for abolishing the state itself as an instrument of violence and compulsion. I seek social ownership of property, the abolition of the propertied class, and sole control by those who produce wealth. Communism is the goal.”
3) After his blunt and open approach to overthrow the government and replace it with a communist state did not gain acceptance by the American public, Baldwin decided on a more deceptive course. In “The ACLU vs. America” by Alan Sears and Craig Osten, a letter of Baldwin’s to a supporter is quoted in explaining Baldwin’s revised tactics,
“Do steer away from making it (the ACLU) look like a Socialist enterprise ... we want to look like patriots in everything we do. We want to get a lot of flags, talk a good deal about the Constitution and what our forefathers wanted to make of this country, and to show that we are really for the folks ...”
4) The ACLU is strongly supported financially by George Soros. (Yes, the billionaire behind the John Kerry campaign, ACORN, MOVEON.org, etc.. The billionaire who Obama met with before going to Chicago as a community organizer. The dots do connect.)
If that research made you curious, then you might enjoy looking up Obama’s connection to Frank Marshall Davis, an admitted communist agent and early mentor of Obama. “Fatigue” will not be required to convince the most casual investigator.
There is of course much more, but hopefully, the above will either be sufficient unto itself, or it will give you the basis for your own research. The ACLU has been clever in its “patriotic” disguise, but the facts should help for those that care about facts.
Before leaving you, let me say that while I do not like either party, I do prefer the Republican Party because those who are found to be corrupt or anti-American are shunned, or they resign. In the Democratic Party, being corrupt or anti-American leads to committee chairmanships. Think of Pelosi, Chris Doud, Barnie Frank, and those even more senior.
