Someone asked me how I felt today and I decided to put it down on paper as a cathartic act for me.
I'm really depressed though I knew it was coming.
I feel for our future. Obama will not destroy our country but he will let it continue to erode.
He will push policies like:
1. The redistribution of wealth thru the tax code (rebates and tax credits that are really welfare payments)
2. The imbalance of union power via card check (Employee Free Choice Act).
Look at the conditions in our Auto industry and Teacher unions for examples run amuck.
3. Encouraging judicial action and decisions beyond that permitted by the constitution (make decisions based on feelings and perceived fairness rather than the law)
4. Suppression of free speech by supporting the Fairness Doctrine which is specifically designed to silence free speech.
5. Strong opposition to drilling our own oil and mining our own coal (which is needed and available NOW) while singing the praises of alternate fuels that don't exist or will nor be available in useable form or quantity for several decades.
6. The weakening America's Military: he has pledged among other things, to make defense cuts during war time, to cut spending on national missile defense, that he won't weaponize space, to slow development of future combat systems, and to seek a "world without nuclear weapons." Is this a man who can be trusted as Commander-In-Chief?
7. Immigration reform including giving drivers licenses to illegals, giving illegals welfare and Medicaid, allowing illegals to participate in Social Security, opposing making English our national language.
There's more but you get the point.
After rereading the above it reminds me of George Orwell's 1984. Sounds like the Ministry of Truth has named or described some of these programs.
Time to read the book again.
It is apparent that socialism is an accepted political philosophy in the US. That marks the beginning of the end of our great experiment in freedom.
I'll support him because he is president but it is also our duty to vigorously oppose those issues that threaten our way of life.
It's a sad day.
Steve
